Hollis Near, Director of Library Services

Directs the operations of campus library services including the Library and Image Collection. Provides reference service and bibliographic instruction. Responsible for collection development and acquisition of new titles. Administers the online library system. Develops and maintains the content of the Cornish Library web pages. Available for reference and research questions.

Hollis received her Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Washington and BA in Music from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio with an emphasis in music history and voice. Over the years she has worked in various capacities at the University of Michigan Bentley Historical Collections, Library of Congress Congressional Research Service, Seattle Public Library, University of Washington Engineering Library, Seattle Central Community College Library, and Seattle University Library. She belongs to the American Library Association, Association of College and Research Libraries, the Music Library Association, and the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA). She is active in the Northwest Chapter of ARLIS/NA and served as chair 2006-2007.

Heather Sheppard, Librarian

Provides reference service and bibliographic instruction. Manages Circulation and Public Services, assists with collection development and title selection, catalogs and maintains periodicals subscriptions, and does library system database maintenance. Supervises student library assistants. Available for reference and research questions.

Heather received her Master of Library and Information Science degree from the University of Washington. She graduated from Humboldt State University in northern California with a BA in Art History, a BA in Studio Art with an emphasis on painting, and a Museum and Gallery Certification. She also volunteers at the Frye Art Museum and the Wing Luke Asian Museum.

Bridget Nowlin, Curator of Visual Resources

Manages the use and development of the Slide Collection. Maintains the slide collection database and oversees slide production. Supervises student assistants. Available for reference and research questions.

Bridget received her MA in Museology, with an Art and Art Education focus, from the University of Washington. Her thesis, Selections from the Henry Art Gallery's Photography Collection: An Educational Website, was displayed in the exhibition The Photographic Impulse at the Henry. She has a BA in Art, with a Photography focus, from the University of Nevada, Reno, and has exhibited her photography in Washington, California and Nevada. Some of Bridget's positions related to Art Education and Art Museum Collection Management include working at the Henry Art Gallery, where she worked on the exhibition Gene(sis): Contemporary Art Explores Human Genomics, the Frye Art Museum, the Seattle Children's Museum, the Wing Luke Asian Museum, the San Diego Museum of Photographic Arts, and the Institute for Arts Education in San Diego. She belongs to the Visual Resources Association.

Pamela Erskine, Library Specialist

Catalogs books, scores, sound recordings and videos. Orders and receives new acquisitions; processes library materials; prepares work for the student library assistants; and helps cover the circulation desk.

Pamela received her AAS Library Technician degree from Highline Community College. In addition she completed one year of music studies at the University of Washington and an extra year of personal enrichment courses at HCC. She also worked over four years as a cataloger for the Seattle Community College Library System.
